Ojai Rock Climbing is owned by Alex Bury, who also serves as lead guide. An Ojai native, Alex began climbing locally more than twenty years ago. Since then, he has become a foundation in the Ojai climbing community, pioneering dozens of new technical routes throughout the Ojai backcountry. His résumé of first ascents includes everything from multipitch traditional lines to sport routes. Alex’s knowledge of Ojai climbing areas is unmatched.
Alex is a member of the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) and an alumnus of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). He has completed the AMGA Rock Guide Course for multipitch guiding, the AMGA Single Pitch Instructor program, and holds current Wilderness First Responder certification (NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute).
