Ojai Rock Climbing is owned by Alex Bury, who also serves as lead guide. Alex began climbing here in Ojai, more than fifteen years ago. Since then, he has become a foundation in the Ojai climbing community, pioneering numerous technical routes throughout the Ojai backcountry. He is credited with dozens of first ascents, including everything from sport routes to multipitch traditional lines. Alex’s knowledge of Ojai climbing areas is unmatched. Alex is a member of the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) and an alumnus of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). He is an AMGA-certified Single Pitch Instructor and a certified Wilderness First Responder (NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute).
